Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House

Barrington, Illinois

Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House, also known as Bellarmine Hall, is located on 80 acres of gently rolling meadows and wooded countryside just 35 miles northwest of Chicago. A beautiful outdoor patio with a fountain and garden provides a quiet, peaceful setting for reflection and spiritual contemplation. Indoors, the chapel, conference center and individual private rooms maintain a comfortable and tranquil environment for retreatants — a “home away from home.”

The mission of Bellarmine is to cooperate with the church in Chicago and the Midwest in fostering the spiritual development of Catholics and fellow Christians in the area.

Bellarmine specializes in silent weekend retreats for men and women adapted from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. A wide variety of other retreat experiences tailored to the changing needs of today’s church are also held at Bellarmine, including Kairos retreats for teens, Charis retreats for young adults, 12-step program retreats and private and directed retreats. Jesuit and non-Jesuit colleagues collaborate in the planning and execution of all of Bellarmine’s retreats and programs.

Delicious meals at Bellarmine are served in a beautiful dining room, and, with prior notification, the kitchen staff can accommodate most special dietary needs you may have.

Bellarmine’s facilities at times are open to other religious and civic groups. The conference center, with a 2,500-square-foot main room and five smaller meeting rooms, is available for rental by private groups, as is the rest of the grounds.
