McNamee, Lee A. SJ

    Br. Lee A. McNamee, S.J. had a life with the Jesuits that took him around the globe and throughout the Midwest. He was 82 when he died July 23 in Wauwatosa, Wis. as a member of the St. Camillus Jesuit Community.

    Br. McNamee entered the Society of Jesus in 1944 and from 1950-54 he served as a house treasurer in Rome. and from 1967-70 he was in administration at the University of Salta in Salta, Argentina, which was then run by the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus.

    Br. McNamee studied counseling at Metropolitan College in Minneapolis and worked in that capacity at St. Joseph’s hospital in Omaha and from 1973-86 was senior counselor and assistant administrator at Anoka (Minn.) State Hospital. He moved on to counseling at Creighton Prep High School in Omaha  and in 1990 began work as an addiction counselor in Minneapolis until 2002 when he went to Milwaukee where he continued his addiction counseling work until his failing health had him move to St. Camillus.
    
    He also worked at the Wisconsin Province offices in Milwaukee and at St. Stanislaus Seminary in Florissant, Mo.

    Br. McNamee was born in Fort Crook, Neb. on June 26, 1926 and his military family moved often. In 1940 he enrolled at Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, Wis. graduating in 1944 and pronounced First Vows as a Jesuit Brother in 1946. He pronounced Final Vows in August 1956.
